Dear Customer,

We know how important it is for you that your units are shipped without any unnecessary delays. To avoid delays regarding IMO units, we have created a short instruction. Please use this as a guideline and please do not hesitate to contact us in case you have any questions.

Dangerous goods

Labeling of units

A unit loaded with dangerous goods must be correctly labelled (IMO class, UN number etc.). All units are inspected upon arrival at the terminal. If any discrepancy is found, the unit must be relabelled. The cost for the labels and for the relabelling will be charged to the customer.

Incorrect labeling may cause a delay in the loading of the unit, and it may even cause a situation where the unit is not loaded on the vessel.

Documentation

The unit must also be correctly declared. A DGD (Dangerous Goods Declaration) will have to be sent to our booking offices before the documentation closing. The DGD will be inspected; and if not approved, the customer will be contacted. Some information is compulsory in the DGD. If a correct DGD has not been received by documentation closing, the unit will not be accepted onboard by the captain of the vessel.

Apart from the information regarding shipper, consignee and date of shipment, the following data must be included in the DGD. (The numbers are corresponding with the boxes of the standard Multimodal Dangerous Goods Form).

·         14 Shipping marks

UN number, proper shipping name, hazard class, subsidiary class, packing group, marine pollutant (if applicable), flash point (if applicable), limited quantity (if applicable). Number & type of packages and total weight of each item of dangerous goods.

·         15 Container identification no. / Vehicle registration no.

·         20 CPC (Container / Vehicle Packing Certificate). Name, date and signature. This is not compulsory for tank units

·         22 Name, date and signature. Electronic signatures are allowed for tank units.

Best regards,
